Shona and Nathan were married at the extraordinarily beautiful Corinda House in Hobart. A wedding surrounded by friends and family amongst the ornate garden, followed by a fun portrait session that started at Domain House and then down to Hobart’s waterfront precinct. Some off the cuff ideas at the time afforded some of my favourite images of the day, which is quite often the case! Using deep shadow and bright sunlight to my advantage, and an impromptu dance rehersal to tell their story…

For Shona and Nathan, I wanted to capture natural light, contrasting with shadow to add drama, depth and natural balance to their images. Corinda House afforded me ample opportunity to do this. Whilst Shona was having her makeup applied I viewed her quietly from the adjacent room, isolating her in the frame by photographing through the gap in the door. Afterwards I asked Shona to take a quiet moment by the window and observe the happenings outside. In this moment I captured one of my all time favourite bridal portraits, mainly because I feel it captured the essence of Shona and tells a little story about a quite moment before the ceremony.
